The Bradley Kid's Club has been established for many years and is recognized as one of the premier youth programs in the state due to the
highly motivated and experienced staff and the access to one of the finest wrestling facilities in the state. Typically the program has averaged around 100 kids per year.
Shawn Cordell, who manages the youth wrestling program, explained, "we are
very proud to have the entire Bradley High School Wrestling Team coaches as part of the instructors for the program. Steve Logsdon (BCHS' 1st wrestling
champion, high school coach with 15 state titles), , Ben Smith (former BCHS & UTC wrestler),and Adam Rains (former state high school champion, BCHS
& UTC wrestler) will be working with the young wrestlers during the program. In addition to the BCHS coaches, Daniel Disney (kids club coach for 8 years
& former Ocoee Middle coach), Brent Belcher (former BCHS wrestler and current Lake Forrest Middle coach), and Ryan Emsinger (former BCHS wrestler and current Lake Forrest Middle asst. coach) will be taking part in a
curriculum that teaches the foundational skills for wrestling and introduces the kids to competition through optional tournaments through the AAU in area and state tournaments.
Cordell added, "Wrestling develops intensity, humility, character and discipline. In wrestling, the wrestler relies on his own ability against their
opponent. Team sports are great, however, the individuality that wrestling presents develops inner accountability that a wrestler acquires."
Typical practices will consist of 2-3 times a week for 1-hour sessions and 5 to 6 tournament opportunities. The Bradley Kid's Club experience provides an
excellent youth level competitions while providing basic wrestling skills that enable them to become successful at the middle and high school level.
The Kid's Club program season begins in December and finishes at the end of the March. The fee for the program is $55, which covers all league fees, T-shirts and tournament entry fees. All practices are held at
Bradley High School in the Bradley Wrestling Team building.
Parents are encouraged to come by on any practice and talk with the coaches and find out more about the
program and wrestling as a sport. The program is available for any child in Kindergarten through the 8th grade. Students outside of Bradley County are encouraged to take part.
